API reference / Common / Engine types / Table

Interface: Table

A table (a:tbl / w:tbl): its grid, its rows, and the properties that govern them.

A foundation piece, not a document — it owns a grid and the content in it and knows nothing of the slide or page it sits on. It reaches a document two ways, and one compose serves both: inline in a graphic frame (GraphicData::Table, a bounded box that never paginates) or as a block in a text story (TextBlock::Table, which flows and splits across pages).

A cell holds a TextBody, whose story can hold another table — the cycle that keeps text and table in one crate.

Properties

PropertyDescription
id
string
Stable model id.
properties?
TableProperties
a:tblPr / w:tblPr.
columns
TableColumn[]
The grid (a:tblGrid / w:tblGrid), left to right. Named for what it holds rather than for the wrapper element, which carries nothing else and so flattens away, and to pair with rows.
rows
TableRow[]
The rows, top to bottom — EG_ContentRowContent, so an entry may wrap rows rather than be one. Walk grid_rows for the grid itself: it descends through the content controls, which contribute no row of their own.
