API reference / Common / Engine types / TextNumberingLevel

Interface: TextNumberingLevel

One numbering level definition — how the bullet/number for a paragraph renders.

Properties

PropertyDescription
format
TextNumberFormat
The number format (or the bullet character).
textPattern?
string
The auto-number pattern with %1-style level placeholders — "%1." renders as 1., "%1)" as 1). Ignored for [TextNumberFormat::Bullet].
start?
number
startAt — the first value (None continues from 1).
alignment?
TextNumberAlign
How the number text aligns in the hanging-indent slot.
suffix?
TextNumberingSuffix
What separates the number from the paragraph text.
sizePercent?
number
buSzPct — bullet size as a factor of the text's font size (1.0 = 100%). Beaten by an absolute size in character_properties.
characterProperties?
TextCharacterProperties
The bullet's own character properties (buFont / buClr / an absolute buSzPts as size). Boxed — [TextCharacterProperties] is the model's heaviest, still-growing carrier, and a bullet rarely overrides it, so keeping the common None cheap keeps [TextNumbering] small.
paragraphProperties?
TextParagraphProperties
w:lvl/w:pPr — the paragraph properties the level imposes, which in docx is where a list's indents live: the hanging slot the number sits in is w:ind, declared here rather than on the paragraph. A tier of the cascade, not an override of it — see text::layout, which layers it under the paragraph's own values and over its style's. pptx leaves it None: a a:buAutoNum describes the marker and nothing else, the level's indents being a:lvl1pPr's. Boxed for the same reason as character_properties, and for one more: [TextParagraphProperties] holds a [TextNumbering], so the type is cyclic without it.
